Dear St. Theresa Families,
Thank you for your support of our staff days. On Friday we completed our third Vertical Team Meeting. This gathering of all teachers in the Diocese engaged us in conversation about our curriculum and the goals we have for all of our students in Catholic schools. This dialogue will continue next year as we support one another in developing a well written and comprehensive curriculum that will support all children in our schools.

Students in grades 3-8 participated in the Sacrament of Reconciliation yesterday. Grade level teachers prepared the students in prayer and reflection in the Church. Then, each student was allowed to receive the sacrament individually. Thank you to Father Peter and Father Patrick for being present to our children.

Next Wednesday is a minimum day. We have a 12:10 dismissal. Faculty and staff will participate in our service learning project. We will go to Med Share. We will learn more about the program and the areas it supports. We too, will sort and pack medical supplies to be donated to needy countries. Anna Good, who is our Service Learning Coordinator for the school has coordinated this opportunity for the staff.

Mark your calendars for two special events in March. We have our 8th grade Pasta Feed on Sunday, March 21 and the school Talent Show on Thursday, March 25.

Our 2nd trimester is ending and Report Cards will be distributed to students on March 12.

The completed intent to return forms are due back to the school office by March 5. This information allows me to determine possible openings for next year and to project next year's budget. Please send them in.

It is important to remember God's call to love one another and to work together to build a world where everyone is welcomed. May we as a school community walk in the path of peace and justice.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Judy KoneffKlatt
Principal

POSITIVE STUDENT SOCIAL INTERACTION WORKSHOP

From our faith perspective, it is essential that we address the social interaction in our school community. Our hope is that by focusing on the dignity of each member of our school, and our call to serve to each other, we will:

* Develop an atmosphere of respect, trust and kindness in our school
* Free students from roles and patterns that undermine their dignity, and ignore the dignity of others.

On Tuesday, March 9, at 7:00 in the Church, St. Theresa School will hold a workshop on Positive Student Social Interaction for parents of students in grades K-5. Anna Good, the school service learning coordinator, and Catherine Jolly, the school counselor, will facilitate.

* This meeting is for all parents whether or not your child/children have been directly affected by any bullying.
* Your child/children will receive a free dress pass if you attend.

* This meeting will be held in preparation for an exciting production the following week: on March 17, grades K-5 will attend the play "Oskar and the Big Bully Battle," performed by a professional theater company. The play challenges previous notions of "good kids" and "bad kids," by showing that roles can be fluid. A child can be targeted one day, and mean to another child the next.

* The idea is that in order for bullying to occur, there needs to be children playing three key roles: the bully, the target, and the bystander. In order for the bullying to stop, upstanders are needed.

* Our goal this year is to help the children who are stuck in either the bully or the bystander role, to move toward the upstander role.
