The third grade classroom is a fun and exciting place to be. During the
school year, the students learn about their hometown, Oakland California .
The students experience the voyage of the Mayflower and the hardships of settling a New World which culminates in a Thanksgiving Feast. Our study of Native Americans takes us through forests, deserts, plains and mountains. Later in our year we will again travel through forests, deserts, plains and mountains during our fairy tale adventures which produces many ?new? fairy tales and even some fairy tale productions. With a fresh look at our world we find that we are surrounded by multiples and love discovering the world of multiplication.

Dear Parents,
So many things happening in May. On May 7 we will celebrate our grandparents and special friends with a special day at school. It will begin with 9:30 AM with classroom visits and include food, entertainment, and socializing. We welcome our loved ones! Look for additional information in the on line family newsletter.
The Bishop is coming to our parish and school beginning with Confirmation Saturday. We will have an 8:30 school and parish Liturgy on Monday, May 10 and all are invited. Whenever we have inportant guests visit we always want to look our best. Please ensure that your child is in a clean uniform that has no holes in it. No student may wear shorts on Monday as we will be celebrating Liturgy with the Bishop.
Friday, May 28 is Field Day and Switch Up Day. We all have a good time playing together and also checking out our classrooms and teacher for next year.
We are working on long division and for some it is a difficult concept. What has really come to light is how many children have not memorized basic subtraction facts and multiplication facts. Please keep quizing your children and helping them to work on memorization.
We are just beginning our last unit in the Religion book: United in Our Catholic Church. In this unit we will study some Catholic traditions and how those traditions affect the church today. We have begun with the tradition of the Rosary. Congratulations to the Parish's Second Graders who have just received their First Communion.
Our last Scholastic Book club order form will come home today and will be due back next Friday, May 14. If ordering, please have order form and $ into class by Friday, May 14.. I will order the books on Friday so that they will be no prolems having them delivered before the end of the year. I won't be able to take any late orders and I hate disappointing the children so I appreciate your timelyness in returning the form.
Happy Mother's Day!
Fondly,
Mrs.Martha Lindorfer
