Loma Mar

What a wonderful week away at “outdoor school” we had! Exploring New Horizons’ “Outdoor School” at Loma Mar certainly lived up to its name. We were very happy
with the quality of the program and the character of all the staff at the camp. It was an exceptional week! We felt so welcome and learned so much. Here is a
sampling of some of what the students had to say about it:

• It taught us a lot about nature.
• I thought that it was a fantastic experience and lots of fun.
• Our class grew closer I think.
• It taught me about saving energy.
• It was really fun to take a break and be with our class.
• It taught us to be nicer to the world and we made more friends.
• I learned a lot and had a lot of fun.
• I learned about the forest.
• It was an awesome experience.
• I got to get away for the week and meet new people.
• It was so quiet and peaceful.
• It is a great experience to be away from home.
• It was a lot of fun and I was never bored.

I will never forget:
• The tide pools
• Climbing Eudora, the eucalyptus tree
• Holding the crabs
• The raccoon opening the town hall door
• The solo hike
• Going to the beach
• My naturalist and the hikes he/she took us on
• Dinners with everyone
• Kissing a banana slug
• The nice people
• My counselor
• The redwoods
• The night hike
• The friends that I made

The students all had great attitudes at camp. They managed to get zero food waste at every meal, which had never been done by any other groups! Their efforts
were rewarded with s’mores on Thursday night. We are proud of all of them!
